SPECIAL NOTE:

[ I will again be working through the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. I will be adding links, resources, images, and the like, upgrading the former work-through which began with the 2013-10-12 posting which can be found, along with the full Genesis to Revelation postings, in the Archive Page. Postings will be at midnight Eastern Time, as I am able. However, no chapters will be skipped, even though a posting may be late. And all postings will be housed in the Archive Page. ]

     Explanation: Isaiah 35 speaks of the restoration of the wilderness and the blossoming of the desert when the LORD comes in glory, encouraging the weak and feeble, and bringing vengeance and recompense to their enemies (1-4). Then the lame will leap, the dumb will sing, fountains and streams will appear in the desert; and grass, and reeds, and rushes will grow (5-7). In the desert will be a highway; it will be a path of holiness, because the unclean shall not tread upon it; it will be a safe path, because "the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein," and because no ravenous beast will walk upon it; instead, the redeemed will be filled with songs of joy and gladness; "and sorrow and sighing shall flee away" (8-10).

RESOURCES

PLEASE NOTE: Use the resources on this and other sites thoughtfully, particularly the commentaries and encyclopedias. I have attempted to list conservative, scholarly resources. However, some providers use liberal or liberal-influenced commentaries such as the Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges (in Bible Hub). Such commentaries are undoubtedly included by the provider for the wealth of useful information and comments which they provide. By consulting several commentaries, it should be fairly easy to sort out the wheat from the chaff. If, however, you would like personal assistance, write to me at AD LIB ARTS EMAIL.

d. Blessing: On the Ransomed Who Return to Zion (35:1-10)

1 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them;
and the desert shall rejoice,
and blossom as the rose.
2 It shall blossom abundantly [budding it shall bud],
and rejoice even with joy and singing:
the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it,
the excellency of Carmel and Sharon,
they shall see the glory of the LORD,
and the excellency of our God.
3 Strengthen ye the weak hands,
and confirm the feeble knees.
4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart
Be strong,
fear not:
behold,
your God will come with vengeance,
even God with a recompence;
he will come and save you.

5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart,
and the tongue of the dumb sing:
for in the wilderness shall waters break out,
and streams in the desert.
7 And the parched ground shall become a pool,
and the thirsty land springs of water:
in the habitation of dragons,
where each lay,
shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

8 And an highway shall be there,
and a way,
and it shall be called The way of holiness;
the unclean shall not pass over it;
but it shall be for those:
the wayfaring men [walking a road],
though fools,
shall not err therein.
9 No lion shall be there,
nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon,
it shall not be found there;
but the redeemed shall walk there:
10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return,
and come to Zion with songs
and everlasting joy upon their heads:
they shall obtain joy and gladness,
and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
